A note from our departing Chair, Rachel Minto

"As Chair of the Board of Trustees, I have sought to continue the work of our sisters before us. Cardiff Women’s Aid emerged from the second wave feminist movement, founded in the 1970s by volunteers. Volunteers – such as the chair – continue to play an important part in the organisation today.  As I say goodbye to Cardiff Women’s Aid, I am confident that I am leaving behind an exciting role for someone who is committed to making a contribution to the continued work of this vitally important organisation.  She will inherit a strong and committed Board, and expert and dedicated staff and volunteer teams, working under the leadership of our excellent CEO, Debbie Beadle.

There is certainly work to be done, as the relatively new Board oversees the implementation of Cardiff Women’s Aid’s Corporate Strategy and continues to invest in strengthening the charity’s governance. However, all the pieces are in place to continue and consolidate this work. It has been an honour to work alongside such talented, dedicated and inspiring individuals – both on the Board and the staff and volunteer teams – all of whom share a deep and unwavering commitment to women’s rights and gender equality.  I encourage interested individuals to explore this opportunity to join an organisation that is working tirelessly to support the women and children of Cardiff and beyond."
